FUNDRAISING STORY – TRIBUTE TO THE COMMUNITY
Starbuck arena is celebrating more than 40 years of community hockey and curling in Manitoba. We started in 1974 as natural ice and after 15 years an artificial ice plant was installed. In 2015/2016 we needed to replace the original failing ice plant, we were at risk of loosing our facilities but the community pulled together and a new ice place was installed in 2016. We have dedicated a page on our website to the amazing people and businesses that saved our rink and the story of how a community came together..
Community Volunteering
The Starbuck Recreation Association owes its current success to strong community support and incredible volunteers. In the past 10 years, we have been able to complete numerous projects around the rink – most notably being the installation of an entire new ice plant and all new boards – all thanks to countless volunteer hours, fundraising efforts, donations and grants. In efforts to be able to continue to provide and improve on the services we are able to offer the community, we are asking for people to volunteer in the canteen at the rink this season.
